Spiritual position in our fellowship and in our services

This message was spoken by R.S.Milton on August 6, 2017 in Chennai and it is available under the topic of Church - Fellowship and under the date of August 2017.

God has specifically defined a place and position in our relationships. Every position has its well-defined responsibilities, functions and boundaries. When we live, and serve according to our place and position we will be blessed and we will be a blessing to others. Am I a blessing to others?

Although he Israelites were out of Egypt, the taste of Egypt was still in them. Similarly, though we may say that we are saved, the worldly ways we inherited are still there in us. But we must learn God’s ways through the Word of God, in our experience and through our fellowship with other saints.

From the life of David and Saul, this principle of how to live in our spiritual position is very well illustrated in this message.
  1. David was in an exalted position.
  2. He did not violate or transgress his position.
  3. He did not violate or transgress his position even very little.
  4. He covered the mistakes of those who misused their positions.
  5. He was willing to be corrected when he transgressed his position.
  6. He forgave those who violated and transgressed their position.

Stepping out on faith to inherit Christ

This message was spoken by R.Merlin on April 2, 2017 in Chennai. This is available under the title of Christian life - Discipleship and under the date of August 2017

The good or the best? As we begin the life of faith in God, many physically satisfying possibilities and opportunities come before us. By sight, they seem to be very good. As we are concerned about our welfare, we prefer to chose these good things to the best things. But if we live the life of faith, we can easily discern that they are not going to help us in our spiritual growth and that, instead, they will thwart our spiritual growth and maturity. This is where we are often tested and found wanting. If we really live the life of faith, we will give up our rights to chose the good and let God do the best for us. This is the way the Lord wants to transform our natural to spiritual. If the 'good', instead of God, is the guiding factor of our life, we will chose it and in turn, it will dull our spiritual insight. In fact, the so-called good is not good enough. The good is always the enemy of the best. Those who long for the best may be considered to be fools. But it is those who grow spiritually. God is after such men of stature, growth, maturity and measure. This is the standard according to which we have to walk. Let us walk not by sight but by faith.

Church meetings and church life

This message was spoken by R.S.Milton on July 23, 2017 in Chennai and it is available under the topic of Church - Fellowship and under the date of August 2017.

Church meetings and church life have been the custom and the tradition of God’s people. Christians should meet together to worship God. Private worship is not enough and public worship is not enough. Both are required. God seeks worshipers to worship Him in spirit and truth. Christians should desire to worship God. Prayer, singing, Word of God, and the Lord’s Supper are essential aspects of the meetings. Moreover each Christian should be taught and teach others. Church meetings provide these opportunities to the believers. In all these things, we care for one another, encourage one another, and refresh one another,
